Configuring Implementation Remarks

When the IMAP module is installed, you can configure it from any workstation if you have the "can configure" privilege.

Configuring

When the IMAP module is installed on the Server computer, you can configure it using the CommuniGator application.

• Choose IMAP from the Monitor section of the Server menu. The IMAP Monitor window appears.
• Choose Service Settings from the IMAP menu.
• Set the Log Level and the number of Channels to Serve IMAP clients (this limits the maximum number of the IMAP clients to be served simultaneously).
• Close the dialog box.

Implementation Remarks

• Accounts can be accessed using the password(s) specified with in the User Settings (the Password panel). The MacOS password and/or an alternative password can be used.
• The current version of the CommuniGate Server does not allow to create user mailboxes. So, the CREATE mailbox function is not available for the IMAP clients now.
• The current version of the CommuniGate IMAP sends all text components in MacOS (US-ASCII) character set, without actual encoding.
• Attachments are transferred in the OCTET-STREAM format if an attached file does not have a resource fork, or in the AppleSingle format if a resource fork exists.
